However, a weightlifting belt should never replace your focus on correct exercise technique.
The 85% rule
The most common recommendation for wearing a weightlifting belt is to use the belt once you are moving more than 85% of your max weight.
However, some athletes like the support even at lighter weights so they can continue to perform the exercises cleanly when fatigue sets in during the workout.
Placement
The weightlifting belt should be worn securely over the hips and below the ribs, centered around the navel, to ensure maximum support and stability.
