Vitamin D3 Drops from Edubily

Vitamin D is one of the essential micronutrients with numerous recognized functions in the body. It contributes to the normal absorption and utilization of calcium and phosphorus, making an important contribution to maintaining healthy bones. Vitamin D also contributes to the maintenance of normal muscle function and the normal function of the immune system.

Edubily uses only a few raw ingredients in its vitamin D range: it contains only cholecalciferol (vitamin D) and coconut-oil-based MCT oil, with no additional additives. Easy to dose with the pipette: one drop contains 20 µg (= 800 IU) vitamin D.

Frequently Asked Questions & Answers from Edubily

Is vitamin D3 vegetarian or vegan?

Vitamin D3 is vegetarian, but not vegan. It is obtained from wool fat (lanolin) from sheep.

Can I add vitamin D3 to food or drinks?

Theoretically yes, but taking it directly in the mouth is recommended. This allows vitamin D3 to be absorbed via the mucous membranes.

How much vitamin D is found in foods?

Vitamin D is found only in very small amounts in the diet, so usually only 10-20% of the requirement can be covered this way. Foods with significant amounts of vitamin D include fatty fish (salmon, herring and mackerel).

Isn’t it enough if I spend time in the sun?

The intensity of sunlight at our latitudes between October and March is not sufficient to produce enough vitamin D.

What is an optimal vitamin D level?

Information on the optimal vitamin D level varies depending on the source. According to the Robert Koch Institute, a value of around 20 ng/ml (50 nmol/l) is considered sufficient. However, several professional societies, including the Endocrine Society, as well as vitamin D discoverer Michael F. Holick (current publication in Nature), recommend at least 30 ng/ml (75 nmol/l) to make the best possible use of the positive effects on calcium, bone and muscle metabolism.

How does body weight affect the vitamin D dose?

Body weight has a direct influence on vitamin D requirements. First, fat tissue can act as a “store” for vitamin D, making less of it available in the blood. Second, requirements increase as body mass increases. Studies show that people with severe obesity may need up to two to three times more vitamin D, while overweight people should plan for around 50% more on average.

How much vitamin D can one-year-olds get?

A recent specialist article in the renowned journal Nature recommends a daily intake of 400 to 1,000 IU for toddlers up to one year old. For babies and children, we also have a specially tailored supplement from Edubily in our range. It allows safe and easy dosing for children.

Can you overdose on vitamin D?

Theoretically yes, but in practice this is rare. Vitamin D is one of the safest vitamins, as it is naturally produced in the skin in very high amounts through sun exposure in summer. A dose of around 10,000 IU, which is often considered high, can be produced by the skin in just a few minutes. Nevertheless, very high doses of over 10,000 IU per day should be avoided over longer periods.

Does vitamin D need to be combined with vitamin K2?

Not necessarily, but it makes sense. Vitamin D influences the formation of vitamin K-dependent proteins. Additional K2 intake can therefore be beneficial. In our range you’ll find a separate Vitamin K1 & K2 supplement, as well as 2-in-1 Vitamin D3 and K2 drops.

Can you take vitamin D3 during pregnancy?

Yes! Up to 4,000 IU per day, according to studies.
