Whey Hydrolysate Powder – for faster protein intake

Whey is one of the two main components of milk protein. Alongside casein, whey is the so-called fast-available fraction. In the production of protein powders, these two protein types are usually separated from each other, which is why whey and casein products are also available separately. Edubily's product contains only pure whey protein.

A special feature of whey is its natural content of essential amino acids – the protein building blocks that the body cannot produce itself and must absorb through nutrition. The higher the proportion of these amino acids, the higher the so-called biological value – an important indicator of the quality of a protein.

This product is a whey hydrolysate, which means that the larger proteins have been broken down and digestibility improved.

Whey in hydrolysate form

Whey protein is available in three different forms:

  • Whey concentrate: The simplest form of whey protein. It contains a high protein content, but also more fat and carbohydrates, as it is filtered less. Whey concentrate is more affordable, but also contains lactose.
  • Whey isolate: Additional filtration removes almost all fat and carbohydrates. This increases the protein content to approx. 90% and generally makes whey isolate easy to digest, almost completely lactose-free and lower in calories.

Also available from us Edubily Whey Isolate Powder from pasture milk – in nine different flavours.

  • Whey hydrolysate: An enzymatically broken-down form of whey in which the protein structures are split into smaller peptides. This further speeds up absorption in the body. However, whey hydrolysate contains lactose and often has a bitter taste (or a slight aftertaste if it is masked by added flavoring).

Whey from Irish pasture-raised milk

This whey comes from Irish pasture-raised cows that get over 90% of their feed as fresh pasture grass. Thanks to the natural and sustainable grazing conditions, the animals spend up to 300 days a year outdoors. Ireland also has one of the highest standards in milk production worldwide. The cows live in small herds of no more than 70 animals and benefit from traditional, sustainable farming with an exceptionally low ecological footprint.

Gentle production for maximum purity

The whey protein goes through an elaborate CFM process (cross-flow microfiltration) to preserve the proteins as well as possible. The protein is processed cold and filtered without excessive heat exposure. Hydrolysis is carried out using enzymes, which brings the peptides into their most digestible form. Certain whey peptides are also retained and continue to be researched for bioactive properties.

Frequently asked questions & answers from Edubily

Is the base of the hydrolysate concentrate or isolate?

The base is whey concentrate.

What does the whey hydrolysate taste like?

Pure whey hydrolysate has a very intense, bitter taste. That’s why this product contains wild berry flavoring and stevia for sweetness. A slightly bitter aftertaste still cannot be completely avoided.

Is the whey hydrolysate also available unflavored?

No, because pure hydrolyzed whey protein would be inedible. Without flavoring and sweetening, it would not be consumed.

Is the product soy-free?

Yes, the product is completely free from soy and soy emulsifiers. However, cross-contamination can never be ruled out 100%.

Is the product lactose-free?

No – it contains lactose. Although relatively little. Our whey isolate, on the other hand, is 100% lactose-free.
