Oligomeric proanthocyanidins (OPC) are secondary plant compounds from the polyphenol group and belong to the subclass of flavonoids and flavanols. Similar to green tea catechins (e.g. EGCG or ECG), they can combine to form dimers and trimers and thus form a catechin chain - oligomeric or polymeric proanthocyanidins (OPC or PPC) - .
OPC occur naturally in various plants, including apples, wild blackberries and the red skins of peanuts. However, the richest source of OPC is the grape, especially its seeds, skins and red vine leaves.
