CLIF's story 

In 1990, the idea for a better bar came during a 175-mile bike ride. Unable to eat another unappetizing bar, Gary Erickson began developing a better recipe. In 1992 the first CLIF BAR® came onto the market, named after Gary's father Clifford.

In 2003, Clif Bar began using organic ingredients such as oatmeal to promote healthier and more sustainable food production. In 2020, Clif Bar Baking Company in Idaho received LEED Gold certification for its sustainable design. Clif Bar aims to halve greenhouse gas emissions by 2030.

Clif Bar has been part of Mondelēz International since 2022 and helps people in over 150 countries snack properly.

Clif Bar has been using organic ingredients since 2003 and to date has incorporated over 1.6 billion pounds of organic ingredients into its products. In 2023, 78% of all ingredients purchased were organic.
