Vitamin D3 Capsules by Edubily

Vitamin D is an essential micronutrient and plays a role in various bodily functions. It contributes to the normal absorption and utilization of calcium and phosphorus, thereby helping to maintain healthy bones. Vitamin D also contributes to the maintenance of normal muscle function and the normal function of the immune system.

Edubily uses only a few ingredients in its vitamin D line: it contains only cholecalciferol (vitamin D) and olive oil in the vegan capsule shell, with no other additives. Easy to dose: Each capsule contains 20 µg (= 800 IU) of vitamin D.

Frequently asked questions and answers from Edubily

Is vitamin D3 vegetarian or vegan?

Vitamin D3 is vegetarian but not vegan. It is derived from wool fat (lanolin) from sheep.

How much vitamin D is in food?

10–20% of the recommended daily intake of vitamin D can be obtained through diet. Foods containing significant amounts of vitamin D include fatty fish (such as salmon, herring, and mackerel).

What is the optimal vitamin D level?

The recommended optimal vitamin D levels vary depending on the source. According to the Robert Koch Institute, a level of approximately 20 ng/ml (50 nmol/l) is considered sufficient. However, several professional societies, including the Endocrine Society, as well as vitamin D pioneer Michael F. Holick (recent publication in Nature), recommend at least 30 ng/ml (75 nmol/l).

How does body weight affect the vitamin D dose?

Body weight has a direct impact on vitamin D requirements. First, adipose tissue can act as a “storage site” for vitamin D, reducing its availability in the blood. Second, the need for vitamin D increases with body mass. Studies show that severely obese individuals require up to two to three times more vitamin D, while those who are overweight should, on average, aim for about 50% more.

Is it possible to overdose on vitamin D?

Theoretically, yes, but in practice this is rare. In the summer, the skin can naturally produce very high levels of vitamin D through sun exposure. The skin can produce a dose of about 10,000 IU—often considered high—in just a few minutes. Nevertheless, very high doses of over 10,000 IU per day should be avoided over extended periods of time.

Does vitamin D need to be combined with vitamin K2?

Not essential, but recommended. Vitamin D influences the production of vitamin K-dependent proteins. Taking an additional supplement of K2 may therefore be beneficial. In our product range, you’ll find a separate vitamin K1 & K2 supplement, as well as 2-in-1 vitamin D3 and K2 drops.

Is it safe to take vitamin D3 during pregnancy?

Yes.
