PURE L-Carnosine Capsules from Edubily

L-Carnosine is a natural compound of the two amino acids ß-alanine and L-histidine, found only in meat. It is being studied in connection with muscle function and regeneration. Carnosine is also said to have antioxidant properties., similar to vitamin E and vitamin C.

Edubily capsules offer you 100% pure L-carnosine, completely free of additives or fillers. They are synthetically produced and therefore also suitable for vegans.

What is L-carnosine and where does it occur?

The dipeptide L-carnosine, composed of ß-alanine and L-histidine, was originally discovered in meat extracts over 100 years ago. In nature, L-carnosine is found almost exclusively in skeletal muscle—particularly in the muscles of poultry, cattle, buffalo, and pigs. Plants and fungi do not contain any carnosine or related substances.

The body can, in principle, synthesize carnosine itself by converting the precursors ß-alanine and histidine with the help of the enzyme carnosine synthase (CS). However, there is evidence that the body's own supply of ß-alanine may be limited. Therefore, in certain situations, supplementing with ß-alanine or directly taking L-carnosine can help support the body's own carnosine levels, especially in the muscles.

Studies on L-Carnosine

In the Sports area ß-alanine has long been known as a direct precursor of carnosine. Carnosine is used in connection with Buffering of acids in the muscle during intense exercise. In a controlled human study, a possible association between ß-alanine intake and improved acid buffering during high-intensity exercise was observed. (1)

Carnosine is also being increasingly studied in a scientific context. In a clinical study, Diabetes patients observed that daily intake of 1 g of carnosine for 12 weeks was associated with a reduction in fat mass and changes in certain blood parameters. (2)

In a more recent clinical study from 2024, carnosine was also linked to the Blood sugar control It was shown that daily intake may help mitigate the rise in blood sugar levels following a glucose tolerance test. (3)

In another randomized clinical study, carnosine was associated with diabetic nephropathy This revealed evidence that carnosine may influence the formation of certain growth factors that are associated with Kidney damage This is currently being further researched as a potential kidney-supporting effect. (4)

Also in the area of mental health A clinical study investigated associations with carnosine intake. This study showed evidence that adding carnosine to an antidepressant could be associated with enhanced effects and higher remission rates compared to taking the drug alone.(5)

In another clinical study, the influence of carnosine and its derivative methylcarnosine (anserine) on the cognitive performance The study included elderly people with mild cognitive impairment, considered a possible precursor to dementia. Those taking (methyl)carnosine performed better in the Global Clinical Dementia Rating than the placebo group. The difference was particularly striking in people with the ApoE4 gene, which is associated with an increased risk of Alzheimer's disease. (6)
