Gut bacteria capsules with selected bacterial strains

The gut is home to a wide variety of microorganisms. Edubily gut bacteria capsules contain a scientifically based blend of 7 high-dose bacterial strains. They contribute to a balanced microbiome. In addition, the capsules contain apple fiber powder, a prebiotic that also provides the right food for the good bacteria. This means the blend combines probiotic cultures with a suitable prebiotic.

Why are gut bacteria so important?

Your gut is home to billions of microorganisms that together form your microbiome. These are "good" bacteria that not only help with digestion, but also play an important role in other processes. Disturbances in the gut can have far-reaching effects on the entire organism and may be linked to a wide range of complaints. (1) Hippocrates already recognized over 2000 years ago: ‘The gut is the father of all misery.’ Factors such as stress, an unbalanced diet or antibiotics could disrupt the microbiome in the gut.

Probiotics are products that contain live microorganisms. They can be consumed naturally through certain fermented foods, such as yogurt, sauerkraut or kefir, or through supplementation. Especially if your diet includes fewer fermented foods, the latter could make sense.

The power of the bacterial strains in our capsules

Edubily gut bacteria capsules provide specifically selected probiotic bacterial strains:

  • Lactobacillus plantarum: Clinical studies suggest that this strain can influence both the innate and adaptive cellular and humoral immune response (2). Especially exciting for athletes: after a triathlon, L. plantarum showed a reduction in oxidative stress by increasing levels of the anti-inflammatory IL1-0 while lowering pro-inflammatory markers such as TNF-α, IL-6 and IL-8 (3).
  • Lactobacillus reuteri: This strain is known for its wide range of positive properties – including supporting gastrointestinal function, influencing the immune response and inhibiting harmful germs. The strain produces reuterin, an antimicrobial compound that contributes significantly to the microbial balance in the gut (4).
  • Streptococcus thermophilus: This probiotic bacterial strain is mainly used in the dairy industry – especially in the production of yogurt and cheese. S. thermophilus is known for converting lactose into lactic acid, which is especially beneficial for people with lactose intolerance. In addition, studies have shown that this strain can help relieve osteoarthritis-related discomfort and slow the progression of joint damage through the production of hyaluronic acid (6).
  • Bifidobacterium lactis: With over 200 clinical studies, B. lactis is one of the best-researched bifidobacteria worldwide. In one of these studies on antibiotic-related changes in the gut microbiota, B. lactis was shown to restore stool acetate levels to baseline within 30 days – an effect that was not observed in the control group. Acetate, a short-chain fatty acid, plays a key role in maintaining an acidic gut environment (7).
  • Bifidobacterium longum: B. longum is associated with possible relief from irritable bowel symptoms. In a clinical study, patients with diarrhea-dominant irritable bowel syndrome experienced an improvement in gastrointestinal symptoms after taking B. longum – remarkably, even heat-inactivated bacteria showed this effect (8). In addition, further studies suggest a positive influence of B. longum on sleep quality and stress processing (9).
  • Bifidobacterium infantis: B. infantis was originally discovered in the gut of infants – hence the name. But adults can also benefit from this strain: Studies have shown that taking B. infantis for inflammatory conditions such as ulcerative colitis, chronic fatigue syndrome, or psoriasis can lead to a reduction in the inflammatory marker CRP compared with the placebo group (10).
  • Bifidobacterium adolescentis: B. adolescentis is associated with positive effects on fat metabolism and glucose tolerance. A study published in the journal Nature Metabolism showed that resistant starch promoted the growth of this bacterial strain – which was linked to an improved metabolic state in the participants (5).

Edubily's probiotic capsules also contain apple fiber powder, a prebiotic that serves as a food source for beneficial gut bacteria and supports their growth.

Frequently asked questions & answers from Edubily

Are the capsules gastric acid resistant?

Basically, it is the biocompatible HPMC capsules. They pass through the empty stomach unharmed within 15 minutes. An additional coating, for example with acylated gellan, is not required. Such chemical additives can be avoided, especially since they are also not used in most scientific studies.

What is the difference compared with the gut flora complex?

The complex in powder form is better suited to people with a healthy gut, while the capsules are designed specifically for more sensitive digestive systems.

The powder contains prebiotics such as dextrin, which can be useful but may cause discomfort if you already have gut issues. People with irritable bowel syndrome in particular often react to even small amounts of fermentable fiber (FODMAP) with bloating. The capsules contain only small amounts of apple fiber powder, which is well tolerated – unlike inulin, which would be problematic for many.

Ultimately, personal preference also matters: swallow a capsule or stir in powder.

Do I need to keep the product in the fridge?

No, the freeze-dried bacteria are suitable for storage at room temperature.

Is inulin included?

No, the capsules do not contain inulin.

Do the bacteria need to be activated before intake?

No, the bacteria are active immediately after intake. However, hot liquids must be avoided.
