PURE Inositol powder from Edubily

Inositol, specifically myo-inositol, is a natural sugar alcohol that is found in the body mainly in cell membranes. Inositol plays a role in various metabolic processes and is continually being investigated in relation to various physiological processes.

Edubily's Myo-Inositol Powder is part of the PURE series and represents the highest purity. Thanks to its natural, slightly sweet flavor, it can be easily mixed into food and drinks and is free from additives and vegan. The recommended dosage is 5 g per day.

What is inositol and where does it occur?

Inositol is the common name for cyclohexanehexol, a hexavalent, cyclic alcohol. Although it is often called "muscle sugar," it is not considered a carbohydrate. The reason is that inositol does not contain a carbonyl group and therefore cannot form a typical sugar structure.

The vital substance, myo-inositol is often counted among the B vitamin family and traditionally also referred to as “vitamin B8”, however, from today’s nutritional point of view, it is no longer considered a real vitamin, but is referred to as a so-called “Vitaminoid“ or co-factor within the B vitamin group.

Because the body can produce myo-inositol from glucose, it is not considered an essential nutrient by definition. It is synthesized in the kidneys and other tissues, with the highest concentration being found in the brain.

Myo-inositol is found in the following foods:

  • Fruits such as melons and oranges
  • Legumes and nuts
  • Cereal products (phytic acid as a source of inositol, but less bioavailable)
  • Soy lecithin
  • Animal products such as liver, egg yolk and salmon

Frequently Asked Questions & Answers from Edubily

What does inositol taste like?

It has a natural, sweet taste with about half the sweetness of table sugar.

What is the difference between inositol and myo-inositol?

In the field of dietary supplements, the terms inositol and myo-inositol are used synonymously.

Inositol is a collective term for various isomers of this molecule, with myo-inositol being the most common and biologically important form. In health products and supplements, as in this case, "inositol" usually refers specifically to myo-inositol.

Can myo-inositol be taken with other supplements?

Myo-inositol can usually be easily combined with other dietary supplements.

There are no known negative interactions with common supplements, so taking it together with other preparations such as folic acid or omega-3 fatty acids is safe.

However, it is advisable to consult a doctor when combining different dietary supplements.

Can myo-inositol have side effects?

Myo-inositol is considered to be well tolerated, but in rare cases side effects such as nausea, stomach upset or headaches may occur, especially at higher doses.

However, most users tolerate the recommended myo-inositol dosage without any problems. If unsure, please consult a doctor.

Is the product vegan?

Yes, Myo-Inositol is 100% vegan.
